Valve has released details of the regional tournaments

Valve has released new details on how regional ranked tournaments will be run in 2021. On the eve of the start of the season, the teams' positions have been updated. Those teams, which in the previous year won the status of «legends», will start participation in the new cycle of competitions with 600 points, some more teams will get 300 or 100 points depending on the achieved level. CS:GO has added stickers with the symbols of cybersports organizations that have won the leaderboard. Part of the proceeds from their sale will go to the respective teams.

The rules of the competition have been adapted to the practice established last year of including a sixth player in the team. This option will now be officially available: teams will be able to request a six-man roster for the game, not including the coach.

In addition, Valve has taken measures to prevent a repeat of the massive coaching bug breach revealed in September 2020. Some cyber athletes found to be cheating will not be able to participate in RMR tournaments. The length of the ban depends on how many penalty points the ESIC has decided a particular player has received. Coaches and assistants will no longer be able to be in the same room as the team; also, player coaches will not be allowed to communicate with each other during online matches.
