Bookmaker Thunderpick has detailed the terms and format of the Thunderpick Bitcoin Series tournament, which is online from January through March. The prize pool of this event will be 1.2 bitcoins, but due to the fact that the value of cryptocurrency is subject to drastic changes, the organizers have also announced a guaranteed prize in dollars – of at least $75,000 for each of the teams that will make it to the top 8. The event is held in cooperation with UCC – a major tournament organizer from Russia.
The tournament, which will take three months, will consist of three stages. In the Closed Qualifying Round, scheduled for Jan. 17 – on Jan. 19, the four invited teams will battle to advance to the next round in six best-of-3 matches. Only one of them will make it to the main stage, which will be held from January 25 to February 15. Another 15 teams will receive an invitation directly to this stage. The teams will play best-of-3 matches according to the Swiss system.
The top eight teams in this stage will then play each other to qualify for the quarterfinals. Finally, the final stage will begin on February 28 and culminate with the grand finals scheduled for March 7. Among those who received an invitation to the Thunderpick Bitcoin Series – are such teams as forZe, SKADE, SINNERS, DBL Poney and other teams from the top-50 of the world ranking.
