Jake «Stewie2K» Yip announced that he has made the decision «to retire from competitive CS:GO and focus on streaming». Shortly before that, news broke that Evil Geniuses, for whom he played, plans to sign Kevin «misutaaa» Rabier and Sanzhar «neaLaN» Iskhakov in the near future to replace Stewie2K and William «RUSH» Vejba.
Despite being only 24 years old, Stewie2K is one of the most titled and experienced players on the North American cybersports scene. He won his first trophy back in October 2016 as part of Cloud9. Over the years, he has won the HLTV MVP award twice, won 12 LAN events and the Intel Grand Slam. During his career he has played for major teams in North and South America such as Cloud9, MIBR and Liquid. As part of Cloud9, he participated in the historic victory at ELEAGUE Major 2018 – the only time a team from North America has won a major.
In recent months, he has served as an ingame leader for Evil Geniuses, but the roster assembled in January has not been able to achieve the same success. The team failed to qualify for the Major in Antwerp and also failed at the ESL Pro League, BLAST Spring Groups and BLAST Spring Showdown. At the same time, in his post about his future plans Stewie2K mentioned that «the future is still uncertain», not ruling out a definitive return to a cybersports career.
