Roles in CS GO

Counter Strike: Global Offensive – is a team game, which means that to succeed in it you need to know the roles of the players and act in concert. In order not just to try to randomly defeat the opponent, but to be able to implement a focused strategy, it is useful to understand what functions can be performed by team members. This is especially important if you play a regular lineup and are serious about the outcome. But even in a game with randoms, the ability to quickly assign roles and fulfill them will significantly increase your chances of winning.

Roles in CS GO

Most role names in ks go come from English terms, which is not surprising, given that the English-speaking audience of the game is the majority. Nevertheless, it is not difficult to understand their meanings. Role assignments may differ depending on whether the team is playing defense or offense. In addition, roles can be primary or secondary, as it happens that along with the primary task, one player takes on several additional ones. Professional teams work out action scenarios in advance and think through how each participant will act depending on the situation. But, before we delve into such complexities, let's see how the main roles of players in ks go are distributed.

Universal roles

Of course, there must be a leader in the team, who makes decisions and determines the order of actions of the main players. He may be called captain or in-game leader (IGL, in-game-leader). He performs the following tasks:

  • monitors the team's finances and determines purchases;

  • determines the overall strategy for the game and adjusts it depending on the opponent's actions;

  • determines tactics in difficult situations, e.g. clutching;

  • gathers information from other team members and uses it immediately.

There are two main types of ingame leaders depending on how they act in the game. Some go straight into the match with a specific plan that they have discussed with the team and act on it. As a result, the team acts more cohesively, but may lack flexibility, especially if the opponent has had time to study its previous matches. Others prefer to strategize as the game progresses, after seeing their opponent's actions in the initial rounds. As a rule, they give up a few points at the beginning of the match, but the team has a better chance to adapt to the opponent's actions and find his weaknesses.

Another universal role that is relevant for both offense and defense – is the sniper, or AWP-er. He constantly moves around the map so that opponents cannot calculate his position and shoot the sniper or take a different route to avoid the threat. It is clear that the main task of a sniper – is to eliminate as many enemy players as possible. But he can do it in different situations. In defense, he can briefly take on the function of a support, defending the point, and at the beginning of the round to act as an entree-fragger.

Roles in CS GO 2

Roles of players in the attackIf you

have to play for the attacking side, the following roles in ks go in the team will be relevant:

  • lurker;

  • entree-fragger;

  • support.

Let's talk about each of them in more detail. Lurker, from the English lurk (to hide, to lurk) – a player who acts covertly and often separately from the others. For example, he can divert the enemy's attention to mislead him and prevent him from immediately realizing which point his teammates are going to assault. At the same time he can, while hiding from the enemy, he can choose a good moment to attack him unexpectedly. But he doesn't always have to shoot: sometimes his main task is to collect information about his opponents' movements and pass it on to the players. Regardless of whether the lurker acts aggressively or more covertly, it requires excellent knowledge of the map, the ability to remain undetected, as well as independently plan their actions.

When discussing roles in ks go and their importance, it is impossible not to mention the entry-fragger. The main qualities of this player – marksmanship and reaction speed. His main goal – is to provide his team with a numerical advantage. He is the first to make contact with the opponent and kill at least one player. Consequently, the entree fragger inevitably acts aggressively and is often killed. However, even if his actions lead to a simple exchange, his team will get valuable information about the location of the remaining enemy players.

Roles in CS GO 3

Another indispensable role of a player in CS:GO in the attack – support (support), or support player. Between rounds, he spends funds not on powerful weapons, but on different types of grenades. In the game, he stays under the cover of the other players to use a light grenade in time to use a light grenade or create a smoke screen and cover a comrade. In the clutch successful actions of the support are often decisive.

Roles in defense

Talking about what roles there are in ks go, it is necessary to separately describe the actions of players in defense, because here the distribution of functions of team members is somewhat different. On defense, responsibilities are less strictly divided, and there are usually two main roles.

Support – player who stays on the point defending it to the last. Even if it seems that the opponents have decided to attack another ploth, he will move there only after he is sure that there are no enemy players in his area of responsibility. If an opponent has attacked his plinth, the helper must hold out as long as possible until the rest of his teammates come up.

The task of the helper can be called the opposite. While the support player stays on a point for a long time, this player, on the other hand, goes to the other plinth as soon as it becomes clear that the opponents have started attacking him.

By studying strategies for different maps, you can find information about which initial distribution is optimal in order to maintain control of both points and be able to react to the opponent's actions in time.

Secondary Player Roles

The above described the main

roles

in CS:GO and their importance, but along with them there are also secondary roles. Unlike the main ones, they are less specific. They can also be taken on by different players depending on the situation, and there are fewer narrow specializations. Here are some examples of such roles:

  • A playmaker – is a player who acts on his own, moves around the map alone and tries to find loopholes in the opponent's defense. It is often similar in function to an entree-fragger, but the latter is usually followed by teammates, while the playmaker is usually a loner. If successful, the playmaker is able to disrupt the opponent's plans for the round.

  • Rotator – A defensive player who is actively moving around the map, can quickly orient himself in a situation and move from one point to another. He often works in contact with the support player, helping him to defend a point if necessary.

  • Rifler – A player who achieves great results with automatic or semi-automatic weapons. Often this function is taken by the same player who performs the role of sniper, in those rounds when he does not have an AWP.
