The opening round of PGL Major Antwerp is a few days away, and its organizers have already announced the full tournament schedule and lineup of opening matches. The first round of PGL Major Antwerp kicks off on May 9. In it, teams in the Challengers and Contenders categories will compete for eight spots in the next stage. A further eight teams will start straight from the Legends stage after winning the regional RMR tournaments.
The first four days of matches, which will be played under the Swedish system, will feature teams such as G2, Vitality, Liquid, Astralis, and ENCE, as well as a few lower ranked teams that have made it to the majors for the first time, such as 9z and IHC.
The most notable of the first matches of the tournament will probably be Vitality vs Complexity and G2 vs Liquid. Astralis vs IHC and MIBR vs Outsiders matches will be played a little later. All starting matches will be played in a best-of-1 format, and then based on these matches, teams will be placed into groups based on win-loss ratio. Depending on this, the schedule of matches of the second half of May 9, as well as the following days of the qualifying stage will be formed.
