FURIA made it to the Legends stage at IEM Rio Major

Brazil's FURIA secured a spot in the Legends stage of the IEM Rio Major after defeating GamerLegion on two maps. Thus, the Brazilian team has a win-loss ratio of 3 – 1, which is enough to qualify for the top stage of the majors.

The FURIA achievement guarantees that at least one «home» team will be among the top 16 participants in the tournament. In addition, so far it is the only fully Brazilian team at the major: Imperial and 00Nation dropped out of the competition, losing on Tuesday to Cloud9 and IHC respectively.

The first map in the match between FURIA and GamerLegion was Vertigo, and on it the Brazilians showed their opponents from the very beginning that it would be difficult to beat them. Gamer Legion only managed to take a few rounds, and by the time the sides changed sides, the score difference had reached 11 – 4. The situation did not change much in the second half of the card draw and it ended with a score of 16 – 9 in favor of the Brazilian team. At Inferno, the game unfolded in much the same way, with FURIA sniper Rafael «saffee» Costa providing the overwhelming advantage in the first half. The Brazilian team won this map without any problems with a score of 16 – 11, guaranteeing themselves a place in the main stage of the tournament.

As for GamerLegion, they have to win one more match to move on. However, it is unlikely to be an easy one: the team will play against Cloud9, who seem to be starting to return to good form after a not-so-good start at the tournament.
