FaZe became the champion of IEM Katowice

On Sunday evening, FaZe beat G2 in the IEM Katowice Grand Final, thus securing the tournament lead and $400,000 in prize money. Accordingly, the second place went to G2, and the third and fourth places were shared by Heroic and Gambit. FaZe did not concede a single card to its opponent, ending the match with a score of 3 – 0. Especially tense was the struggle on the first two maps, Inferno and Mirage, where the winner was determined in overtime – and on Mirage it was necessary to prolong the drawing of the map five times. The final map was Dust2, which FaZe won with the score 14 – 16.

The final of the tournament, which took place at Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland, gathered a record number of spectators and became the most watched match in the history of CS: GO, except for the finals of majors. According to Esports Charts, 1.12 million viewers watched the finals broadcast at its peak.

Justin «jks» Savage, who played for FaZe, became the first Australian to win one of the biggest cybersports tournaments. He participated in the playoff game as a result of a coincidence, temporarily taking the place of Havard «rain» Niagaard, who fell ill with a coronavirus.
