ESIC uncovers new cases of coaching bug exploitation

Nearly two years have passed since ESIC began investigating the «coaching bug», but the organization is now ready to provide new material related to the fact that new variants of it have recently been discovered.

Specifically, ESIC has discovered that there are a total of three versions of the bug. A total of 134 cyber athletes have been found guilty of using them, while in September 2020 only 37 coaches were punished for cheating. One variant of the bug was found to give the participant who used it a particularly significant advantage by allowing them to move freely around the map. Of course, ESIC plans to more severely penalize those who are found guilty of using it.

ESIC managed to establish that the first version of the bug, which allowed to observe the map from a fixed point, was used by 84 coaches (including 37 people who have already been penalized). Another 47 used the version allowing a third-person view of the map and three more – the free-movement version.

The organization is expected to announce the specific names of the coaches and the penalties they will face soon. However, it is already known that one of these versions of the read was used by Damien «maLeK» Marcel and Luis «peacemaker» Tadeu.
