Canadian cyber athlete Damien «daps» Steele, who served as the in-game leader for Orgless, has announced the dissolution of the project. On Friday, he published a post on Twitter, in which he spoke about the reasons for this decision, as well as shared his views on the state of CS: GO in North America.
The player explained that the initiators of the project in January 2022 were originally himself and William «RUSH» Verzhba, and they were willing to play for a while without getting paid for it. However, RUSH soon received an offer from Evil Geniuses, and daps had to pursue further development of Orgless on his own.
Despite this, he decided to continue and try to get into the American cycle of RMR tournaments. However, the team failed to qualify: in the first open qualification they were defeated by ATK and in the second – by UYU. Commenting on the failures of his project, daps noted that he had experienced firsthand the challenges of developing a professional scene in North America. In particular, he believes that there are not enough local-level LAN events in the region, which are critical to the development of young teams.
Now daps plans to take a break to evaluate his future opportunities. Meanwhile, one of the players who was part of Orgless, Michael «Swisher» Schmid, has already joined ATK, while the plans for the others remain unclear.
