Replenishing your collection of favorite skins for CS:GO, it is interesting to think about how they were created and what was the inspiration for their design. Here are some stories on this topic – perhaps, after reading them, you will want to buy these particular coloring books.
Love story and optical illusion
In the case of the Glock-18 Vogue, the story of the creation of the skin is remarkable, which is unmistakably recognized by the beautiful eyes painted on the barrel of the gun. The author of this coloring, skinmaker known under the nickname KASI, says that the source of inspiration for him was the eyes of his girlfriend. He originally came up with this skin as a gift for her birthday. In addition, he also drew inspiration from one of the masterpieces of world art – «Monet Lisa» Da Vinci, who is known for her gaze seeming to be directed toward the listener, no matter where he or she stands in relation to the painting. By drawing eyes on the barrel «of a Glock», KASI sought to recreate the same optical illusion, and perhaps not unsuccessfully.
Science Fiction
The story behind the creation of the M4A4 Asiimov is also noteworthy. Its author, Coridium, said in an interview that he has always loved science fiction and was interested in movies, books and games about how people imagine the future. Based on this, he also chose the color palette for the skin – similar shades have been used in many designs, including famous science fiction games as well as movies such as «District 9» or «Prometheus». He mentions that his goal was to create a design that would be firmly associated with science fiction, conjuring up key works in the genre. Not surprisingly, the skin was named accordingly – in honor of the famous writer Isaac Asimov.
Stolen picture
However, authors are not always guided by such lyrical motives. This is evidenced by the story of the M4A4 Howl, which took place in 2014. Skins are relatively new to the game, and many community members are just beginning to realize that they can turn into a source of income. As a result, the number of artists creating skins for CS:GO has increased noticeably. Among them were Auzzii and sic, who uploaded a skin for the M4A4 to the Workshop. Their work quickly gained the number of votes needed to be added to the game, and was soon included in the Huntsman collection.
However, it soon became clear that the image that the authors of the skin took as a basis was not theirs at all, but another artist – CanisAlbus. Due to accusations of plagiarism, the skin was removed from the collection, and those players who had already received it had the skin image replaced with a similar one that did not use CanisAlbus' work. As a result, the M4A4 Howl has become a real rarity, and the cost of its few remaining copies on the market can be measured in thousands of dollars.
