Finnish eSports player Aleksi «Aleksib» Virolainen recently gave an interview to HLTV in which he talked about the current situation in the OG team after it crashed out of the IEM Katowice tournament. In 2020, OG was climbing up to #12 on the list of top teams, but has been in poor form in recent months. The last few tournaments ended unsuccessfully for her, and IEM Katowice was one of the first tournaments she left.
Alexi noted that there are now many discussions in the team about the current situation and further plans. The players were defeated in a tournament for which they had high hopes and for which they had been preparing for a long time. So now the team is trying to figure out how best to move forward.
One of the problems that the team has had to deal with constantly – lately is that due to anti-epidemic restrictions one of the players, Issa «ISAA» Murad has to play from home and his ping is noticeably higher than the others. At the same time, it has not yet been possible to organize his arrival at a joint bootcamp.
At the same time, the team's in-game interaction is at a high level: the OG roster hasn't changed since 2019, and the cyber athletes have a lot of well-tested tactical scenarios. So Aleksib hopes that they will be able to perform well again once they solve the temporary problems.
